The design of the house prioritizes integration with the natural surroundings of the equatorial region, where the tranquil environment, marked by a river, forest, and mountains, provides a serene backdrop. The goal was to create a piece of art that tries to mimic the power of nature and its beauty, is self-sufficient, minimalistic, and clear in its form, while maintaining a light yet dynamic character that enhances the surrounding landscape

The house is defined by three key architectural elements: the floor (earth), the ceiling (clouds), and the central column representing a light beam of the sun. This central column houses a WC and a staircase that leads you to the small hideout, the only spaces enclosed by walls for privacy. Constructed from concrete and covered with stone, the column ties the building’s architecture to the local environment and serves as a modern interpretation of the traditional "Deda Bodzi" or "Mother Column" found in
Georgian architecture

CONCEPTUAL ARCHITECTURE

The remaining spaces are divided by white curtains, offering a flexible layout that evolves throughout the day. These curtains cast shadows and create silhouettes, providing a living experience reminiscent of a Chinese shadow theater. This dynamic design ensures the space remains visually engaging, with the residents simultaneously becoming both actor and spectator in a constantly shifting play of light and shadow. The staircase within the central column leads to a meditation space, a highlight of the house’s design. In this area, the design captures the sun throughout the day, creating a mystical atmosphere. The play of shadows within the space is further enhanced by the column’s end contour, deepening the sense of tranquility and reflection

Around the perimeter of the house, stained glass windows, which rotate on an axis, allow for the controlled entry of sunlight. These windows can be adjusted throughout the day, creating shifting shadows and reflections on the curtains and other surfaces. This feature also accommodates moonlight, allowing the house to be illuminated at night. Situated beside the river, the house can capture both direct sunlight and the reflected light from the water, enriching the interplay of light and shadows within the space.
In summary, the house is designed to embrace the beauty of natural light and shadows, creating a flexible, mystical, and dynamic environment that evolves throughout the day and year. It combines modern architectural elements with traditional influences, offering a unique living experience that is both serene and interactive

HOUSE OF SHADOWS

Both shadows—mysterious and illusory—and reflections—more grounded and realistic —play an essential role in the house’s design. These elements depend on a light source, which is why a pool is positioned to the east. The placement of the pool ensures that the morning sun reflects on the ceiling, creating captivating water reflections that add visual depth to the interiors. A tree located nearby further contributes to the dynamic lighting
